Betty Laine OBE

Betty Laine OBE who founded Laine Theatre Arts in 1974, is a member of the Grand Council of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

Her enthusiasm and love of the theatre and dance in all its aspects are shown in the versatility, dedication and successes of her students. She entered the theatre and television as a soloist dancer, singer and actress.

Her combined experience in theatre, television and the teaching profession makes her unique in the training of students and children. She aims to achieve a personal rapport with each student and, by her total professionalism, endeavours to develop their individuality to the fullest extent.

Her day-to-day involvement with West End managements enables her to tailor the training to meet the current needs of the professional theatre.

The College demands self-discipline, a sense of responsibility, personal grooming and a respect of values all of which will become an integral part of the students characters.

 

Tudor Davies (Vice Principal, Musical Theatre Studies)

Tudor worked extensively as a dancer both here and in the USA and appeared in over a dozen West End musicals.

In 1992 he became a contract producer/director for the BBC and his work included; series 5 and 6 of the Russ Abbot show, Rock with Laughter, and writer/producer of the 1992 Children's Royal Variety Performance and as a performer/choreographer/director on eight Royal Variety Shows.

In 2003 Tudor wrote, devised and directed the opening Royal Gala for the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.

As well as being an accomplished pantomime Dame, he is a leading writer and director of Pantomime and is responsible for over 25 scripts currently in use throughout the UK.

 

Sarah Wilson (Vice Principal, Dance Studies)

Sarah started her professional career as a choreographer in summer repertory at the Byre Theatre in St. Andrews during her college holidays.

In addition to her work for the college Sarah is a Fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Modern Theatre Faculty, a major examiner and one of the development team responsible for choreographing the Modern Theatre Faculty syllabuses.

Sarah is a member of the CDET's Schools Committee and of its Accreditation Board and chairs the Conference of Professional
Dance Schools.
