Foundation course

The one-year Foundation course aims to provide students of 16+ years with the necessary skills to gain entry to specialist performing arts colleges in this country.

This course will combine the principles of 'education' and 'training' to equip students with a strong technical skill base, underpinned with knowledge and understanding.

The course will be taught in accordance with three major objectives:

  • Students will be given a strong technical grounding in dance, singing, acting and other closely related disciplines.
  • Students will develop their ability to instil life into their performances, discovering the role of their own emotions in creating an imaginative, convincing performance.
  • Students will gain an in-depth contextual knowledge of their subject. They will gain an understanding of the performing industry and the relationship between vocational training and the job market, and consequently which institution would be best suited to them.
