PURPOSE & VALUES

Our Purpose

Laine Theatre Arts exists to empower the next generation of exceptional performing artists. Our training rests on two pillars: intensive, industry-connected practical training in dance, acting and musical theatre, and a structured academic framework, overseen by our Academic Board, that ensures rigour, consistency and recognised standards in teaching, learning and assessment. Delivered by a resident faculty working alongside leading industry professionals, within a close-knit college community built over more than fifty years, this dual approach gives our graduates both the craft and the intellectual grounding to sustain a career in a changing industry.

Our Values

Excellence – We hold ourselves and our students to the highest professional and academic standards, in the studio, the classroom, in performance and in every aspect of College life.

Rigour – We underpin practical training with structured academic frameworks for teaching, learning and assessment, maintaining the standards expected by our validating and regulatory partners and preparing students for critical, reflective practice throughout their careers.

Care – We put the wellbeing of every student first, providing a safe, supportive environment in which they can flourish academically, artistically and personally.

Integrity – We act honestly, transparently and with accountability in everything we do, as an institution and as individuals.

Inclusion – We are committed to a diverse and representative community, where every student and member of staff is valued for the unique contribution they make.

Community – We believe training is strengthened by a shared collective spirit – energised, kind, disciplined – and by staff and students supporting one another to succeed.

Ambition – We prepare our students not only for their first job, but for a resilient, adaptable career in an industry that will keep changing throughout their working lives.
