Eligible applicants will be considered for a Dance and Drama Award (DaDA) – this is an income assessed scholarship funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). If you are successful at audition, and if you are eligible, you will automatically be considered for DaDA funding at Laine.
The amount of funding, as allocated to the College each year by the ESFA, does not cover all those that are eligible. The criteria for DaDA allocation specifies that scholarships are awarded to the most talented applicants until funds are exhausted. It is for this reason that those eligible for DaDA funding are placed on a ‘talent list’, and from that list, scholarships will be awarded to the most talented.

FUNDING
STUDENT FINANCE
Students on our 3-Year BA (Hons) Degree, 3-Year Level 6 Diploma, 1-Year BA (Hons) Top-Up, and 1-Year CertHE course may be eligible for student finance contributions.
Student finance is administered by different funding agencies through the UK. For example, a student from England would apply to Student Finance England (SFE) who currently offer a Student Loan of £6,185 towards Tuition Fees, and a Maintenance Loan of up to £10,544.
Further details on student finance can be obtained from the following GOV UK website: https://www.gov.uk/student-finance
DANCE AND DRAMA AWARDS (DaDAs)
Students on our Level 6 Diploma course may be eligible for DaDA funding. Please note: students in receipt of DaDA funding are not eligible for student finance.
These awards are annual scholarships funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and are offered to exceptionally talented performing arts students.
Applicants who receive an offer for the Level 6 Diploma will be invited to apply for a DaDA. As part of the process, applicants must submit details of household income.
Awards are:
- Allocated by the College to the most talented students with strong potential to succeed in the industry.
- Means-tested according to household income, which determines both the student’s contribution to tuition fees and any maintenance support available.
- Confirmed in late spring, so students should be aware that final allocations may not be available immediately.
For further information on the DaDA scheme, please visit: www.dadainfo.org.uk
