Craig Adams

Craig Adams began his career as a performer, appearing in acclaimed productions such as Mamma Mia!, Tess of the D’Urbervilles, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Zorro. After a successful period on stage, he transitioned to focus on his work as a composer, musical director, and arranger.

As a writer, Craig has developed a distinctive voice in contemporary musical theatre, known for his emotionally resonant scores and compelling storytelling. His original musicals include Lift, a powerful chamber piece exploring chance encounters and hidden lives in a London lift; Thérèse Raquin, a bold reimagining of the classic Zola novel; and Clockwork Christmas, inspired by a short story by Heinrich Böll and set on Christmas Eve. He also composed 101 Dalmatians and Pinocchio, both written in collaboration with Andrew Doyle, and The Guinea Pig Club, a new musical about Archibald McIndoe and the pioneering treatment of WWII burn victims.

Craig’s work has been praised for its melodic strength and emotional depth. The Guardian described Lift as “a hauntingly evocative score,” while The Stage noted that Thérèse Raquin “simmers with dark romanticism and a modern pulse.”

Drawing on his experience as both performer and writer, Craig brings a deep understanding of character, music, and dramatic structure to every project. This insight also informs his work as a teacher, where his practical experience and creative skill make him an exceptionally knowledgeable and inspiring educator in the field of musical theatre.
