Laine Theatre Arts is an Approved Dance Centre for the ISTD and has been delivering the ISTD syllabuses since the College was founded.

We offer students a route into the ISTD’s Initial Teaching Qualifications (DDE Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education) in Modern Theatre Tap and Tap Dance.  The College delivers 3 of the 5 DDE Units and can arrange remote tutoring for those students who wish to study for the remaining 2 Units.

This part-time course is delivered through weekly classes and intensive study days over some weekends and holiday periods. LTA offers the opportunity for students who are studying for these qualifications to observe our Junior Department classes taught by Laine’s highly qualified and experienced faculty.

Studying the ISTD teaching qualifications can open the door to a potential career path in regulated dance teaching. Many Laine graduates have gone on to teach and run their own schools all over the world. The College is proud of its contribution to the dance teaching profession. Some 10% of the ISTD’s Modern and Tap Examiners are graduates from LTA.
