Amanda Matea

AMANDA MATEA trained at the Royal Ballet School (Senior Associate) and Laine Theatre Arts (BA Hons in Musical Theatre), before completing the Fellowship programme at the Alvin Ailey School in New York on Scholarship, performing works by Alvin Ailey, William Forsythe, Christopher Huggins, Pedro Ruiz, Donald Byrd, and Hope Boykin. She went on to dance with leading US companies including Lines Ballet and Battery Dance Company, performing at The White House for the inaugural celebrations for President Obama, and touring Europe as a featured dancer with Post Modern Jukebox.

Dedicated to developing the next generation of artists, Amanda has lectured and held faculty positions at The Ailey School, Royal Ballet School (White Lodge), London Studio Centre, Laine Theatre Arts, Boston Ballet School, and teaches company class for the McOnie Company, whilst adjudicating for international and national competitions to identify and empower upcoming talent. Amanda strives to creates emotionally resonant work in an environment that champions exploration, inclusivity, and artistic truth. She is passionate about supporting students to push boundaries through theatrical innovation and the power of storytelling, continually expanding her own creative practice and cultural competence to help shape a more equitable and forward-thinking arts industry.
