Andrew Hudson
Through taking part in local amateur dramatics and attending a local performing arts school as a child Andrew understands the importance of the arts in allowing children and young adults to express their individuality and create community.
Andrew completed pre-vocational dance training at Bird College before specialising in contemporary dance at London Studio Centre. He later obtained a BA (Hons) Musical Theatre from Laine Theatre Arts and was awarded a MA in Creative Producing from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Since completing formal education, Andrew has continued to develop his understanding of performance through ongoing tutoring from Ellis Jones, former Head of Acting and Vice-Principal at RADA, and Clare Davidson, former Head of Voice at LAMDA.
For much of his early career, Andrew worked in casting for commercial musical theatre. Initially working on large scale children casting searches for Matilda the musical (West End & UK Tour) and School of Rock (West End). He also led on the casting for two John Lewis commercials in 2018; their Autumn ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ advert and iconic Christmas Advert starring Elton John. In more recent years, Andrew has focused on adult casting projects working on productions including; The Lion King (UK Tour), Aladdin (UK Tour), Dear Evan Hansen (West End), Jersey Boys (West End & UK Tour), Hairspray (West End), Crazy For You (West End), The Little Big Things (West End), Bedknobs and Broomsticks (UK Tour), The Devil Wears Prada (West End), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (UK Tour) and War Horse (UK Tour).
In addition to his work in casting, for the past six years Andrew has taught at Laine Theatre Arts, a world-renowned vocational school training the next generation of musical theatre performers. He currently holds a post overseeing the school’s undergraduate provision whereby he is responsible for ensuring the delivery of curriculum and maintaining standards of the school in line with validating bodies. As part of this role Andrew sits on the audition panel for entry, oversees all summative assessments of students throughout their training, as well as being on the Board of Studies and Academic Board. His areas of specialism include commercial theatre production, casting practices and choreographic plagiarism.
Andrew is excited to return to a grassroots level where he can share his knowledge and experience of the performing arts. At the heart of this is a deep passion to create an inclusive community whereby the highest level of performing arts education can be accessed.
Since completing formal education, Andrew has continued to develop his understanding of performance through ongoing mentoring from Ellis Jones, former Vice-Principal at RADA, and Clare Davidson, former Head of Voice at LAMDA.
