James Wilkie
James a medal winner at the Adeline Genée Competition in 2002, and subsequently offered a contract by The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden before graduation from The Royal Ballet School in 2002, where he had trained for 8 years under the directorship of Dame Merle Park and Gailene Stock AM.
His Royal Ballet career (2002 to 2015) covered the classical ballet works of Ashton, MacMillan, Balanchine, Robbins, Watkins, Wheeldon, Kylian, Ondiviela,Bruce and Garland with particular roles being Sinfonietta (Kylian) Harlequin (The Nutcracker), Neapolitan Dance (Swan Lake), Goat (Sylvia), Puck (The Dream),Pas de Six (Giselle) Tom Thumb, Pigland Bland (Tales of Beatrix Potter), Pas de Six (La Sylphide) Ugly Sister (Cinderella) and The Shy Boy (The Concert). James created the role of the ‘Dormouse’ in Christopher Wheeldon’s ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ and also has toured extensively internationally with the main company and guesting on splinter tours with Mara Galeazzi ‘Soloist’s and Friends’ touring extensively around Italy and Africa raising money for ‘Dancing for Children’.
James joined Laine Theatre Arts in 2016 as a Ballet Teacher and still undertakes guest teaching and staging productions both in the Uk and internationally.
