Lawrence Broomfield-McHugh

Lawrence is an international vocal coach, performer, conductor, and writer with over two decades of experience across opera, classical, pop, and musical theatre. Currently Head of Singing at Laine Theatre Arts, Epsom, he is known for nurturing voices that thrive on the world’s most demanding stages.

A classically trained baritone, Lawrence studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where he was awarded the Oratorio Prize and trained under renowned baritones Brian Rayner Cook and Adrian Clarke. His performance career spans choral works, opera roles, and musical theatre — from Mozart’s Requiem at Symphony Hall with the CBSO to roles in Le nozze di Figaro, Das Rheingold, and Phantom of the Opera.

Lawrence has worked with a wide range of artists, including Ella Henderson, Lily James, Daisy Ridley, Charlie Stemp, and Matt Baker. His workshops have reached performers worldwide, including at the Sydney Opera House and Washington, D.C.

Beyond performance and teaching, Lawrence is a published writer and respected consultant. He has contributed to Music Teacher Magazine, served as a consultant for ABRSM and BBC Radio 3, and presented for institutions like the Association of Teachers of Singing and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

With a rare combination of academic insight, real-world artistry, and mentorship, Lawrence continues to shape the future of vocal performance across genres.
