LAINE ACADEMY

Laine Academy is an inclusive, ambitious and thriving part-time dance, drama and musical theatre school for children aged 3-18 in Epsom, Surrey. At the heart of our ethos is a belief that every young performer deserves access to high-quality training within a supportive and inspiring environment.

Professional etiquette and industry standards are embedded into our training from an early age. Our training is both nurturing and ambitious – we encourage healthy competition that inspires students to challenge themselves and strive for excellence, while always supporting one another as a community.

OUR NEW HOME!

Laine Academy has moved! You’ll now find us at Parkside House, Ashley Road, Epsom, KT18 5BS.

CLASSES BY AGE

Training is organised into two clear pathways depending on age. Choose the one that fits your child.

Laine Academy (Ages 8-18)

For students aged 8 and above, training is built around two core programmes: the Compulsory Core and the MT Squad. From the age of 8, our training focuses on developing well-rounded, technically strong performers who are confident across multiple genres.

Compulsory Core

All dance students aged 8+ take a minimum of three dance classes per week:

  • 1 Ballet class
  • 1 Jazz class
  • 1 additional dance class of the student’s choice

MT Squad (Musical Theatre)

Specialist training in acting, dance and musical theatre, led by industry professionals (see the MT Squad section below).

Full fees and class options are in the Fees section below.

Laine Academy Juniors (Ages 3-7)

Students aged 7 and below are our Laine Academy Juniors. There is no minimum participation at this stage – children can do as little or as much as they like. We’re also delighted to introduce a brand-new Jazz class for children aged 5-7.

Ballet

  • Baby Ballet – 45 minutes (age 3-4)
  • Pre-Primary Ballet – 45 minutes (age 5-6)
  • Primary Ballet – 1 hour (age 6-7)

Modern / Tap / Jazz

  • Primary Modern & Tap (combined) – 1 hour (age 5+)
  • Modern 1 – 1 hour (age 7+)
  • Early Jazz – 1 hour (age 5-7)
  • Tap 1 – 1 hour (age 7+)

Acting

  • ACT – 45 minutes (age 5-7)

Junior pricing: £12 per 1-hour class · £9 per 45-minute class

MT SQUAD

Laine Academy MT Squad trains performers to become confident triple threats through specialist classes in acting, dance and musical theatre. Led by industry professionals, the programme provides high-quality training, professional insight and a supportive environment where students develop the skills needed for the stage and beyond.

Led by: Nic Greenshields (MT Squad Acting Teacher) · Lucy Jane Adcock (MT Squad Dance Teacher).

AUTUMN TERM

Builds the core fundamentals and skills our young performers need to become well-rounded artists and confident individuals – developing coordination, artistry and stamina through dance; harmony and musicality through singing; performance and character through musical theatre; and confidence and projection through acting.

SPRING TERM

Explores the world of performance, bringing together singing, acting and dance. Performers continue to strengthen core technique while discovering their individual talents – both as ensemble members and solo performers – working towards an exciting milestone: their first public performance at the end of term.

SUMMER TERM

A highlight of the calendar as the squad works towards its end-of-year musical performance, bringing together all the knowledge, passion and skills developed across the year into a highly energised ensemble showcase that celebrates every performer’s progress.

Junior age 11-12
Intermediate age 13-14
Senior age 15-16

Our bespoke, small-group classes are designed to provide individualised coaching and support students working towards LAMDA examinations. With a maximum of 8 students per class, each student benefits from focused coaching, personalised feedback and the confidence to develop their communication, performance and acting skills.
